Hey Caretakers!!

Just wanted to check in with you all, as so far all of the backer payments have processed and we've received the funds (which is still a staggering thing to look at).  I know some of you have reached out for me to look into transactions (and I am looking into them). 

As noted earlier in the campaign, we will be moving to Backerkit as our pledge manager. I don't have it set up quite yet, there are a lot of things we're tightening up (like shipping and the snowy variant, beforehand).  When the time comes, we'll write a full update detailing about how backerkit works and how to get in. 

As a quick update about development, now that the manufacturer is starting to come back from Chinese New Year, we're able to start getting the other prototypes done. I've been in contact with them and starting to get quotes and plan out all of the items we're creating. I'm hoping soon we'll be able to showoff those prototypes soon, but at this point I don't have anything to show off quite yet. 

As we ramp up, I'll do my best to share with you everything that happens under the hood, but right now we're still locking down quotes and materials (esp since this is a massive order, also the manufacturer recently got the plush patterns, so some new prototypes will be coming soon too.

Wow...this project has been quite the ride, and I am stunned at the amount of support that we've gotten for our little owlbear plush. I was expecting to have to make only 1000 - 2000 or so owlbears, but you all blew that out of the water and there are more than 9000 backer owlbears to be made and delivered. 

Whats Happens Next (For Backers)?

So right now, Kickstarter is working on processing all of your payments. This process takes two weeks, because for those who had failed transactions or expired cards, Kickstarter gives them a chance to fix their payment. 

After that, you'll wait for us to invite you into Backerkit. We'll do another post when invitations go out, but there is where you will get to pick which owlbear you want (classic or arctic), change pledge tier, add more owlbears, add more boxes, add any of our publisher's products, like the Baby Bestiary Handbooks, and pay for shipping. 

  We haven't set up the back-end of Backerkit yet, so it might be more than two weeks until that invitation goes out, this also gives us time to get you the arctic owlbear prototype, box prototypes, as well as nail down shipping costs. 

What happens Next for us (developers)?

We've already handed out a number of assignments to our creative team at Metal Weave Games, to start working on the digital rewards. As for the owlbears, we're waiting to hear back from the manufacturers about the box, accessories, and owlbear variant, since our volume and items have updated just a little bit. In addition, we're working on getting prototypes of them so we can show you what they'll look like.

With us reaching 350k, this means we've unlocked a 5th physical reward. 

This time I've put only books in so it will be interesting to see what people vote for. (also we'll have to hard work on this product first since we need to get it printed to be included with the box sets.

Digital Unlocks #8

We hit another at the 300k mark, and with that, we're going to add in another 5e adventure. 

We had a few suggestions for some icons/emotes, so I'll look at trying to throw those in as well (since they're great for social media as well).

Right now I've got people started on the class designs, and need to assign out the lore/art book, so in the coming weeks, we'll be ramping up production of those, since one of them will be printed (and we might look to print the all and have them as addons, we'll see).

Hey backers!!

Holy crap, we're finally at the final stretch of our campaign, and not only am I still getting used to the fact we hit 100k or even 200k, but now we've broken 300k!!

Seriously, can you make this vote get any closer??!

So, officially the Bowtie wins, as the next physical item (by literally 2 votes). 

I know many of you want the rearing lorebook, but I'll look for a way to provide it as an addon (if we don't hit the next physical goal, either that and/or the children's book). 

Digital Unlock 

We hit 300k, which means we unlock the digital expansion #8, honestly, I haven't decided what this should be yet (heck you're keeping me on my toes with how far this campaign has gone). But I want to give an opportunity for everyone to look at what we're making so far and give a few suggestions.

A quick note

Due to Chinese New Year, we're gonna have to wait a week until we start getting information from the manufacturer on variants and new prototypes, but after which we should see more stuff rolling in.

House-Cleaning Updates

Shipping - Waiting to hear back from a Canadian partner, really hoping to hear from them this week. 

Box - probably wont be able to show a design until backerkit 

Arctic Owlbear prototype - Working on getting this, we're currently talking with two potential manufacturers (now that our volume is so high).  I am hoping to have a prototype to show off while the Backerkit is still open (this should be true for the accessories as well), so everyone can make an informed decision.

Hey Caretakers!!

With over 3000 votes, I'm super excited to announce the Arctic Owlbear variant! We're looking into our options in getting it as close to a snowy owlbear pattern as possible. 

How do I get one?

All backers will have a choice between the snowy owlbear and the brown owlbear plush.

This means if you're getting more than one owlbear, you'll get to choose for each owlbear.

You'll be making this decision when you get into backerkit, not on kickstarter.

Stretch Goals

I'm constantly redoing the math on the project, to make sure things don't get out of hand, and as a safety for the budget, I've adjusted the final stretch goals 

• $250k - Physical Unlock 
• $300k - Digital Expansion
• $350k - Physical Unlock 
• $400k - Digital Expansion
• $450k - Physical Unlock
• etc 

Digital Unlock #7 Children's Book

Its been quite some time, but we've actually had started work on a children's book a long ago (2015), featuring the work of Travis Hanson. So far we've only got a handful of the pages sketched out but now is a better time than ever to return to the project and finish it!

The story featured an owlbear cub who didn't listen to the advice of it's mother and gets lost while playing with it's friend Griffin. The Owlbear then has to overcome is fear and learn to ask for help. Getting help from a friendly treant passing by. 

We'll be making a separate ink version that can also be printed and colored in.
